This is a true folk tale.
Once upon a time, many decades ago, a young foreigner who was a bird photographer had come to Dosdewa forests. Upon meeting a very lovely Indian bird watcher lady there, the married foreigner quickly removed his wedding ring. In his hurry, the ring dropped to the ground and got lost.
The Indian lady in the meantime got lost by the charms of the foreigner and fell in love. They watched many a birds together in the enchanting forest for next few weeks. Until that fateful day when the Abbott’s Babbler showed up with the foreigner’s wedding ring in its beak. The man instinctively jumped to get his ring, and his secret was exposed!
From that day on, the Abbott’s Babbler is supposed to come with a wedding ring everytime it sees a “bird-watching couple” in the forest, just to make sure no one gets cheated!
