Rongtong / Latpanchor / Senchal (near Darjeeling) is one of the most attractive birding hub in India, in North Bengal side. They are all at about 2-3 hours drive in the hills from each other. Bagdogra is the main airport to access these places and about an hour away from Rongtong.

This was my second visit here and was glad to find the Hodgson’s Frogmouth at Latpanchor; the Black Baza, Jerdon’s Baza, Thick-billed Green Pigeon, Barred-cuckoo Dove, Asian Barred Owlet, Long-tailed Broadbill and the Greater Necklace Laughing Thrush at Rongtong.

In a very foggy weather at Darjeeling / Senchal, I could find the Hill Partridge, Darjeeling Woodpecker, Slender-biiled Scimitar Babbler, Orange-bellied Himalayan Squirrel and many other Thrushes and Laughingthrushes.
