Dosdewa forests in Karimganj district are not very easy to reach but worth trying once for sure. From Silchar, it is about a 4 hours drive, and then a short auto ride into the Khasi tribe village (“basti”)! Very basic homestay arrangement but good sumptuous food! Wading through the streams to reach inner parts of the forest or a walk through other parts of the forest can throw up delights that are often found in this forest only.
Some of the species I found here were the Black-crested Bulbul, Cachar Bulbul, Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Taiga Flycatcher, Gray-bellied Tesia, Gray-throated Babbler, Abbott’s Babbler, Black-headed Bulbul, Siberian Blue Robin, Van Hasselt’s Sunbird and Pallas Squirrel.
