Stories

Imagine being the only living member in a family tree. Evolved so differently that the past relatives have become extinct or do not identify with you any more! The last living species standing with those genes! All alone in this vast universe.

The above thoughts had fascinated me for some time, and I was happy to give company to these lonely bird species, one by one! These are the bird species that are left all alone in their family, their genus (White-bellied Erpornis is the lone member in their genus). Apparently about 14% of the birds globally belong to this lonely category. If true, then the Indian ratio seems far, far lower? Maybe because we Indians believe in genuine family living! ☺️
