Eyes are our windows to the soul and dominates all emotional communication. That is why I love the owls! They have such large expressive eyes that lure us into another magical world.
Over the past year on my thrilling journey of finding all the owls in Indian subcontinent, I personally went through all the 12 generally accepted basic emotions of humans. In an ironical way, the sequence of emotions almost entirely matched with that faced by any other human in a typical year - starting the year with excitement, courage and laughter and ending the year with peace, compassion and love - and then of course the ups and downs of emotions during the year with the twists and turns of life.
I was very lucky to be witness to the empathy shown by my owl friends during this year long journey. They mirrored my emotional journey perfectly through their eyes and expressions! I am selecting a few of them and putting it in a calendar format. Don’t you agree that there was indeed magic in their symbolic expressions?! Or is it just me enamoured by my owls?
