Sri Lanka has some beautiful forests and there are many species that are endemic to Sri Lanka.

Generally a 2-4 hours drive by car on good roads takes you from airport to the two main birding locations of Kitulgala and Singharaja. Dense forests, leeches, rains are pretty common and not for the faint-hearted!

The bird species I got here were Sri Lanka Jungle Fowl, Red-faced Malkoha, Serendib Scops Owl, Sri Lankan Spurfowl, Yellow-fronted Barbet, Chestnut-backed Owlet, Crimson-backed Flameback, Green-billed Coucal, Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Layard’s Parakeet, Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Crimson Fronted Barbet, Munias, Brown Fish Owl, Square-tailed Bulbul, and Paradise Flycatcher.
